Nashville International Airport is situated at One Terminal Drive, Nashville, TN 37214 – 8 miles east of downtown Nashville, Southeastern part of Nashville, Tennessee United States.
The airport is called BNA because it is its code which stands for Berry Field Nashville. This is in honor of Col. Harry S. Berry who was the administrator of the original airport project in the 1930s.
The airport was established in 1937 and its original name was Berry Field. Since 1962 the airport is operated by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) & Us Air Force. It is the first municipal airport in the USA. This airport has four runways and covers a total of 3900 acres or 1600 ha area.
Currently, the airport is used by 22 airlines and daily over 585 departing and arriving flights use this airport. The airport is home to the 118th Wing ( a unit of the Tennessee Air National Guard) and 1/230th Air Cavalry Squadron Tennessee Army National Guard.
